Checking out the sectoral situation of fashion photography and the contents of fashion photography lesson in undergraduate level

This study was prepared for examine the sectoral situation of fashion photography and preparation the content of master?s degree level fashion photography lesson. In this study, definition of fashion photography, fashion photography in Turkey, historical development and today?s condition of fashion photography in Turkey, education of fashion photography in universities in Turkey, studying of fashion photography lesson contents in universities in Turkey, sectoral opinions of fashion photographers in Turkey, sectoral opinions of faculty members of fashion photography lesson and opinions of fashion photography faculty members about lesson contents were identified as sub-problems.An interview technique method was made to conduct this study. Data for the study was collected via analysis of the literature and interview forms. The working groups of this research are fashion photography lecturers in Fine Arts Faculties of Bahçeşehir, Akdeniz, Haliç, Mimar Sinan and Yıldız Teknik University and fashion photographers in our country.From the research findings; despite of the first examples of fashion photography was determined in 1900s, it was ensured today?s form started by 1950s. Although photography education has the history for thirty-five years in academic standards, fashion photography education has been given for six years.In spite of fashion industry and education can be counted as developed in our country, it was understood that importance of fashion photography and education is not given enough. These findings are reflected historical development and understanding of fashion photography, how can be the content of fashion photography lesson in undergraduate level and proposals presented in the future scientific research.
