Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, computer technology has been actively used in all fields of life. Fashion design/ textile industry is one of these fields. The increasing use of computer aided working style in this sector has also led to certain changes in the universities which train personnel for the ready-made clothing/fashion sector. Faculties have started to offer courses on Computer Aided Design. This study has been conducted to determine the views of instructors and students with regard to computer aided instruction in fashion design education. This research covers the students and the instructors involved in the Computer Aided Design course, given in the Fashion Design departments at the faculties of Fine Arts and the schools of Industrial Arts (four-year education) in the universities all over Turkey. Sample survey covers the students and instructors of the Computer Aided Design course offered at the Fashion Design departments of Eskişehir Anatolian University School of Industrial Arts, Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Fine Arts, and İzmir University of Economics Faculty of Fine Arts, all which are randomly chosen. During the research, five point likert scale has been used. All the collected data has been transferred to SPSS, calculated and evaluated according to percent value, and the results obtained from this data have been tabulated, reaching thus certain conclusions and making suggestions. At the end of the research it has been found out that1) While the students? evaluations regarding the Computer Aided Design course and its variables reveal a change at ?medium? or ?low? levels, those of the instructors usually display a change at ?high? and ?medium? levels.2) The students find the laboratory capacity and the source books used in the course insufficient.3) The computer aided design programmes have not been used efficiently but that it is important to use computer aided instruction in their education.Based on these findings, suggestions concerning new researchers and the course have been offered and some proposals for the improvement and restructuring of the course have been brought forward.
