The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of surrealist art movement in fashion design education on fashion design students creativty and recommend several implications based on the obtained results.In the present study, experimental design was used. The population of the study comprised of students from Gazi University Faculty of Vacational Education in Ankara. Participants were 32 and senior year students recruited from the faculty of Vocational Education Department of Fashion Desıgn Education in the academic year of 2010-2011. Participants werwe randomly assıgned to experimental and control groups. The control group consisted of 14, while the experimental group consistsed of 18 students.Research data collection instruments were, achievement test, attitude scale, rating scale, creativty scale and personal information form. The obtained data were analyzed by using SPSS 11.5 statistical program.According to the results, the art education had a positive effect on the knowledge and attitudes of fashion design students. After the traing it was observed that students creativity was improved.
