The movements concerning change and transformation in politics, economics and socio-cultural fields after the establishment and independence of new Turkish state, had given birth to political and ideological differences. Rauf Orbay and his friends, being the advocates of an evolutional change via reforms, in terms of change and transformation of a society, rather than radical and fundamental revolutions, have established Progressive Republican Party (TPCF), the first opposition party in Republic of Turkey?s history against Republican People?s Party (CHF) lead by General Mustafa Kemal. The study in concern aims to explicate TPCF within the framework of conservative politics theory which is a moderate interpretation of modernism.
