Modern world-system narrative and epistemological context of its critics

Modern World-System narrative; from the perspective of Immanuel Wallerstein's Analysis of World-Systems; it is an analysis framework in which it presents the development, transformation and tension dynamics of the capitalist world-economy, which it claims to have existed for nearly five hundred years. Wallerstein basically conveyed the presentation of this analysis framework in the four-volume Modern World-System series. Within the scope of this thesis, the relationship between the criticisms directed at the Modern World-System narrative, which is aimed at systematizing the development story of capitalism, and the World-Systems Analysis perspective is investigated. For this purpose, the study includes the presentation of the epistemological meaning of World-Systems Analysis, a broad summary of the Modern World-System narrative, and the criticisms brought to the Modern World-System narrative. The plane differentiation caused by the separation of the World-Systems Analysis perspective from 19th century social scientific research on the axis of analysis unit and analysis style in understanding social reality indicates that the criticisms brought to the Modern World-Systems narrative are not only related to historical inconsistencies but also have epistemological roots.
