New social movement in context of modern and postmodern identities

The modernity that advanced with the pure rationalist dimension gave birth to the dominance of technical-industrial devices, rational and bureaucratic culture. In this period individual identity claims being dissolved in the values of reason, equality and brotherhood, personal autonomy had been ruined. Individual, keeping every kind of individual difference in his / her private, was the one that was in the equal legal status and had the identity of citizen in the public area. In this period individual expressed the claims of freedom and rights only depending on a basis of classes still according to the conflicts of profit and politicial expectations of a specific whole and rationality.However when it came to 1960s, a form of politics that could be called as postmodern appeared beyond the modernity in the politics of identity. The existence of singular objects from that day forth should be defended instead of totalitarian anonymous subjects as the theorists of radical democracy attracted attention. The crisis into which the modern and developed democracies of west enter, the displeasure felt with the existing system, in the case of voices gradually turning into social actions, with the unusual and rare claims that never seen before as students in the lead, many times with no organization, developing by itself and many of which went beyond the borders new social movements entered into the field of politics.These new social movements were quite different from the previous ones in terms of whether their claims from the politicial system or their forms of organization or the classes and status of individuals were that the movements shelter in. These movements in terms of values such as identity, freedom and difference that sheltered inside, had differentiated from the whole of modernism values. It is possible to evaluate and deal with the new social movements that are able to expand the area of civilian society and to ensure to democratize.
