Abstract (EN)
Throughout the history of humanity, there have been two major developments that have irreversibly influenced societies, cities and architecture. One of them is the transition from nomadic life to settled life, that is, agricultural society; the other is the creation of the industrial world by breaking from the soil. The historical line of this study is the modernization process from the Industrial Revolution to the present day when the industrial world began to form. The aim of the study is to analyze how the concepts of 'modernity' and 'mobility' which have entered into human life through industrialization and emerged as the key concepts of the modern era affect the formation of modern architecture and to investigate the relationship between the spatiality defined by the 'road' that concretize the mobility in special and 'railroad' that developed by the Industrial Revolution in general. In this context, in order to form a theoretical basis, concepts of modernity and mobility are defined with the social, communal and political developments behind of them by searched the literature and then architectural framework has been defined over road/railroad spatiality by searching the effects of these concepts on cities and architecture. The data obtained were analyzed through early modern world examples and a concrete data was presented. This study reveals that with the introduction of modernity and movement concepts into human life, it causes irreversible changes in the field of architecture and provides a new perspective in understanding the space and today's architecture by reading these concepts through the road / railroad spatiality developed in the modern era.
