Abstract (EN)

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic bacterium involved in many important infections such as nosocomial infections, burns, wound, respiratory tract, urinary tract and eye infection. The pathogen has a growing ability to resist antibiotics and responsible for mutidreug resistant in hospitalized patients. The present study aimed at detection and diagnosis of MDR isolates of P. aeruginosa that causes various nosocomial and detection of causative genes reponsible for resistance to antibiotics. The study involved 168 samples collected from various clinical sites from patients admitted to burns unite. Only 82 isolated P. aeruginosa were obtained and further confirmed via VITEK-II. Fifty MDR islaotes were submitted to genomic and plasmid extraction and AmpC as well as NDM-1 genes amplification. The current study revealed that 61.0% of P. aeruginosa isolates were MDR, 22.0% were Extensive drug resistant (EDR), while 17.1% were multi-drug sensitive (MDS). PCR amplification depicted that AmpC gene was presented in 40/50 (82%) of isolates and absent in 10/50 (18%), while, NDM -1 gene was recovered in 5/50 (10%) of isolates and absent in 45/50 (90%). In conclusion, MDR of P. aeruginosa is strongly associated with AmpC and NDM-1 genes.
