Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to determine the antiproliferative, antioxidant capacity, and alpha-glucosidase enzyme inhibition activity of water, methanol, chloroform and hexane extracts from Mougeotia Scalaris alga. Moreover, the total amounts of flavonoid substance and total phenolic compounds of the extracts were determined. The highest amount of phenolic and flavonoid substances were found in methanol extract. The phenolic content was found to be 10.70 mg GAE/g extract and the total flavonoid content as 8.21 mgQE/g the tests that have been made showed that the highest activity was in the methanol extract. Methanol extract showed moderate iron reducing power (FRAP) 9,81 mmol TE/g and in DPPH experiment the IC50 value was 103.12 µg/mL. The antimicrobial effects of different concentrations of alga extracts have been investigated and it was found that MSS and MSM have no effect on S.aureus, MSK had more effect on S.aureus than MSH MSK had no effect on S.pneumoniae, and the most effective extracts were found to be MSM> MSH> MSS, respectively. In anticancer activity study, the extracts having different polarities showed antiproliferative activities against MCF-7 breast cancer and HT-29 colon cancer cell lines in a dose-dependent manner. Additionally, the highest antiproliferative activity was observed by hexane extract with the lowest IC50 (16,94 µg/mL) value against MCF-7 cell line.
