Mosaic technique and applications

After people settled down, the desire to beautify the place they live in has continued until today. After basic needs, people started to add beauty to the environment they live in. The mosaic technique, which is included in these aesthetic touches, is a technique that can still be used in public, private, indoor and outdoor spaces, religious spaces, with the development of today's technology, ideas and skills with its traditional infrastructure from the past. It is among the rare branches of art that has survived to the present day and preserved its modern structure intact. This technique, which is created by the side-by-side use of small pieces that do not make sense on their own, is called mosaic. The lack of a single material of the mosaic technique gives the mosaic artists the right to unlimited freedom. While it could only be created with materials found in nature in ancient times, today it can be created using many materials, especially ceramics, glass, marble, wood, paper and fabric. The general usage areas of the mosaic technique are the pictorial expression form created on a flat ground. After contemporary art, three-dimensional mosaic works continue to be produced rapidly. The main reasons why ceramic mosaics are frequently preferred are that they have a longer life than other mosaics in all conditions and provide ease of use. In this study; In the development adventure of the mosaic technique, making three-dimensional ceramic mosaics suitable for production, working in accordance with the principles of working with the mosaic technique and this technique that has been coming for centuries will be discussed with different application techniques.
