Personality of Turkish origins and works in Turkish author in work named "Esâmî" of Muallim Naci (Text examinanation-dictionary index)

Muallim Nâcî, a prominent figure in the field of literature during his era, has successfully drawn attention to himself through a wide range of literary works and engaging in high-profile literary debates. Our study is based on Esâmî, a biographical work written by Muallim Nâcî in the year 1308/1891. The work alphabetically presents the lives of men and women who have gained fame in the Islamic geography. In Esâmî, meaning 'Names,' brief information is provided about the lives, literary personalities, and works of 850 figures, including scholars, poets, statesmen, etc., who lived in the Islamic geography and achieved renown in their respective periods. Literature review on Esâmî revealed that no comprehensive study had been conducted on the work, and it had not been translated into Latin letters. Furthermore, in the literature studies conducted, it was observed that a partial undergraduate thesis on female figures in Esâmî was undertaken by Hayrunnisa, a student at Istanbul University Faculty of Theology, in 2018. Therefore, it was decided to work on this text with the belief that it would be suitable for the field of language and literature. However, due to the extensive nature of the text, a limitation was imposed on our thesis, and Turkish-origin and Turkish-language figures in the work were selected for examination, creating a new text in this manner. The study consists of four main sections: the author's life and works, examination, transcriptional (translated text), and a dictionary index. In the appendices section of the thesis, facsimiles of the sections we worked on in the text are included.
