Critics against Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan

There is no doubt that Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan is one of the most important people of the history of Islam. He has been so popular and will be in the future due to his position as governorate of Damascus and the activities during his caliphate. It is certain that the socio-economic and socio-political conditions of the era that the Islamic historians lived in had repurcussions in their work. Besides, the political thoughts and Islamic theology views that they are interested in have influences on their works. In our research, the criticisms that were directed to Muawiyah will be analyzed considering this fact and we will try to shed light to the events of the period.
