Mohammed Fath al-Maârif's Prose Work texts-review

• It is known that the Classical Turkish Literature is very rich for its scope and diversity. Due to being started and developed in the Islamic culture and civilization, the Turkish classical Literature has a lot of theological and mystical works. Vahdetnâmes among such works have had a very important and distinguished place. • First instances of those works which can be followed since 1461 are in form of verses. Themes generally found in these verses are like existence, oneness, names, attributes of God, and love for the prophet. As its name implies, the details of the path to the unity of God are shown to the believers in the verses. It is seen that some academic studies have already been done on Vahdetnâme verses. • In the proses seen after the XVIIth century, tawheed belief is also found to be studied, and that the authors especially focus on the idea of wahdat al-wujudd. According to them, there is nothing but God, and the visible world is nothing but the manifestations of the Absolute Being. The purpose of man is to try to understand these secrets. Since it is more suitable for the explanations of philosophical and mystical subjects, the vahdetnâmes in which the ontological issues are studied have been written in proses. However, it can not be said that there have been serious works on these works. • The purpose of this study is to examine the Wahdatname in prose written by Muhammad Fethul al-Maârif. Muhammad Fethu'l-Maârif, who developed a new mystical understanding in the name of Ma'rifism in Rifailik, is a mystics poet and writer who tried to pass his religional and mystical ideas to people through his conversations and works. • First focus of this study is if Wahdatnames can be regarded as a literary genre, and secondly, the religious and mystical views that Muhammad Fethul al-Maârif has revealed in his Wahdatname are studied. Also a comparative text of the four copies existing in the libraries of the same Vahdetnâme, and a translation in today's Turkish is presented at the end of the study for convenience to the academicians who would study the work.
