Özet (EN)

In the past few years the concept of a person working to obtain a life has replaced the concept of a person living to work with economic recovery, technological advancement and people's gradual socialization. In professional life, emotional needs are now considered as important as the contribution the person makes to the production. The time a person individually devotes to their private life in order to assure their productivity and professional success has gained importance, too. In accounting, work-life balance is important considering that the individal brings benefit first of all to themselves, then to their family, and only after that, to the society. In accounting, the increase in the number of female professionals as well as the working conditions of the job revealed the problem of work-life balance. Due to long working hours, professional issues and heavy workload, female professionals cannot create work-life balance; they postpone their private life and neglect it. The purpose of this study is to look into the work-life balance of female accounting professionals living in Antalya. During the study, depth interview technique, which is one of the qualitative research techniques, was used. The research data was obtained as a result of detailed conversations with 25 female accounting professionals during which semi-structured interview form was used. After analysis the intervews were coded. The obtained data was cleared up by means of analysis tool Maxqda Analytics Pro 2020. As a result of the study it was determined that due to professional conditions, female accounting professionals are not able to maintain work-life balance. It was discovered that due to professional workload and indefinite working hours, female employees, especially those who are mothers, are stuck between worklife, private life and family life and are more affected by work-life imbalance. Based on the results of the study it became clear that several arrangements that will improve working conditions need to be made by the government and employers to provide female employees with work-life balance and several policies oriented towards employees who are mothers were specified as the ones that need to be improved. Key words: Accounting, Woman, Work-life balance, Antalya
