Examination of job satisfaction and burnout levels of accounting professionals: Case of Osmaniye

Job satisfaction is a dimension needed to be happy at work, to do it with pleasure, to make the most contribution to the work. Burnout can be defined as having desperate and negative thoughts in the face of routine works and decrease in life energy. Job satisfaction and burnout are of great importance for professional accountants who spend time with people and keep records of businesses. This study has been prepared to measure job satisfaction and burnout levels of accounting professionals and accounting employees in Osmaniye. Research data were collected by survey method. In addition, Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale was used to measure job satisfaction, and Maslach Burnout Scale was used to measure burnout dimension. In this study, the relationship between job satisfaction and burnout levels according to some demographic variables of accounting employees and professional accountants was examined. While there was a significant difference between job satisfaction and gender variable of professional accountants, there was no significant difference in terms of other demographic variables. When the burnout status of professional accountants was examined, it was found that there was a significant difference in age and professional experience and burnout sub-dimensions, and there was no significant difference in terms of other demographic variables.
