Research of Muhyiddin Muhammed an-Niksārī's work named Risāle fī Ḥalli Mushkilat Baʻdi Mahalli Tefsiri'l-Beydāwī fi Sureti-l-Fatiha

Muḥyīddīn Muhammed al-Niksārī (d. 901/1495) was one of the most important Ottoman scholars of the ninth century. He was born in the Niksar district of Tokat. After teaching at the Ismail Bey Madrasah for a while, he went to Istanbul at the invitation of Sultan Bayezid Khan and worked as a muderris at the Hagia Sophia and Fatih mosques. Niksārī was particularly interested in the field of tafsīr and wrote works in this field. Most of his works are commentaries. One of them is "Risāla fī Halli Mushkilāti Baʻdı Mahāllī Tafsīri l-Baydāwī fī Sūrati-l-Fātiha". As the title suggests, Niksārī wrote this work with the aim of explaining the closed and difficult to understand parts of al-Baydawī's (d. 685/1286) Sūrah al-Fātiḥa. A manuscript copy of this work has survived, but no scholarly edition has been produced. Therefore, the aim of this study is to analyze the work scientifically on the basis of the relevant manuscript and to provide information about Niksārī's life, works and the work that is the subject of the analysis. In this context, the research consists of two parts. In the first part, information about Niksārī's name and lineage, his birth and death, his sectarian affiliation, his educational life, his teachers and disciples will be given. In addition, the nomenclature, manuscripts, theme, methodology, and sources of the work will be highlighted. The second part is devoted to the text of the Tahkik. I have added certain headings to the text in relation to related topics. This makes it easier for the reader to follow the text. In addition, various explanations of the text have been made in the footnotes, following the Tahkik method.
