Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of this study is to examine the mediator and moderator role of perfectionistic self-presentation in predicting the quality of friendship based on perfectionism. The study was carried out with 635 participants (61.9% female). The mean age of the participants was 29.65. The data were collected by The Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale-Hewitt", "Perfectionistic Self-Presentation Scale", "Mcgill Friendship Questionnaire -Friend's Functions" and "Demographic Information Form". The direct and indirect effects between variables were tested with the PROCESS macro using the bootstrap method (n=5000 bootstrapping iterations). As a result of the test of parallel mediation model, it was found that "nondisclosure of imperfection" played a role in partial mediator variable in the relationship between "self- oriented perfectionism" and the quality of friendship. Accordingly, the level of self oriented perfectionism predicts nondisclosure of imperfection positively, and nondisclosure of imperfection decreases the quality of friendship. After moderated regression analysis, it was found that perfectionistic self-presentation had no moderator role in the relationship between perfectionism and friendship quality. According to the results of the hierarchical regression analysis, the most important predictors of the quality of friendship, resemblance to ideal of friendship relationship and given importance to this relationship that explaining 28% of the variance. The findings were discussed within the framework of the related literature. Keywords: Perfectionism, Perfectionistic Self Presentation, Friendship Quality.
