Abstract (EN)
Introduction and Background: Classically, the central nervous system inmultiple sclerosis (MS) is kept in the forefront periferic any abnormality in nerveconduction studies to be expected. However, the literature supports the studies inMS patients have abnormalities in peripheral nerve conduction studies. The aim ofthis study relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients with peripheralnerve involvement, whether in the form. due to peripheral nerve conduction studiesreveal.Materials and Methods: In 2001, the revised McDonald's criteria, accordingto the definite RRMS with the diagnosis of 20 patients and 15 normal controlsbetween the median nerve sensory and motor branch, the peroneal nerve, tibialnerve and sural nerves of the EMNG studies, conduction velocity, DL and actionpotential amplitude comparisons were performed. Results: The patient and control groups, sensory and motor branch of mediannerve, peroneal nerve, tibial nerve and sural nerve conduction velocity studies of theEMNG, DL, action potential amplitude, the difference was not statisticallysignificant comparisons. Conclusion: In our study patients with MS, between the control group, thesural nerve the median, peroneal, tibial nerve conduction velocities, DAP andCMAP, distal latency does not have a statistically significant differencecomparisons. Though several studies subgroups of patients with MS % 5-14 ofperipheral nerve involvement was observed. In this regard the larger sample size andmore comprehensive studies are needed.
