The conservation project of Murefte old government house

The subject of the thesis, "Mürefte Old Government House", takes place in county of Tekirdağ, district of Şarköy, neighbourhood of Mürefte, Coşkun Avenue, 3 sheets and 2884 parcels. The westernization movement, which gained momentum with the Tanzimat Fermanı in the Ottoman Empire, became effective in the field of administration as well as every other area. In this period, the Ottoman Empire began to build new administrative buildings in the province in order to strengthen the central government. Mürefte Old Government House is also one of the administrative buildings which was built at that period. It is aimed to protect this house, which witnessed the Ottoman period of renewal, with a new function that serves the social purposes. Accordingly, the aim of this thesis is defined as; to analyze this building, which was used as a government office in its first stage, and as a health care center in its later stages, in detail, make evaluations and presents its restitution and restoration projects as a proposal. The main reasons for selecting Mürefte Old Government House are the importance of its values, location, its history, its architectural characteristics and its symbolic role, as being a building which witnessed the Ottoman period of renewal.
