The improvement of operetta in Ottoman, specific to İstanbul Gentleman operetta of Musahipzade Celal Efendi

Operet form in performing arts is a piece of talkative-stage scene that is performed more fun and softer than the opera. Unlike opera, the text is made up of current events that people will love. Operet came into light for the first time in the beginnings of 18th century as Ballas Opera in England. The "Beggar's Opera", which was staged in 1928, is regarded as one of the first operettas since its content is funnier and the form of music and speech are different from the classical opera. In the 19th century, the types of musical games which were gathered under the name of comic opera were named with the word Operet which means "Little Opera" in Italian. This research aims to examine the products that were blended with Turkish music and the operetta music which came to our country through westernization movements in the recent periods of Ottoman Empire. In order to achieve this aim, the " Operetta of İstanbul Efendisi " belonging to Müsahipzade Celal Efendi was studied musically, and the original text,which was written in Ottoman Turkish, was translated into latin letters.Since it is written both by today's alphabet and the musical structure is analized , the research is considered important in bringing out Turkish operettas which are likely to be forgotten and showing the art of operetta in Turkey. In addition, the musical notes of Operetta of İstanbul Efendisi "were vocalized by "kanun "one of the Turkish music instruments and archived with faithfully adhering to the original text. The work was compiled from Turkish Maqam Music Works belonging to the era two centuries before the music was written. No information was available about the compositions of the works. For this reason, the notes of the "Istanbul Efendisi" were played and archived with the "kanun" from the Turkish music instruments in keeping with the original text. The research was conducted with the Descriptive Survey Model. The purpose of the research is to show the development of operetta music in the Ottoman Empire through the musical examination of the "Istanbul Master Opera" belonging to Müsahipzade Celal Efendi. Since the goal has been reached, taking sample has not been preferred. Through the analysis of the operetta and musical notes, it was found that Turkish Makam Music was used in an operetta form which is western. The work; Starting with the convertor, followed by chorus, solo and chorus parts, and was carried by 3 chords.
