Mustafâ İsâmüddîn Üsküdârî and El-Lüm'atü'l-Bedriyye Ale'l-Kasîdeti'l-Mudariyye (Transcribed text–review)

ABSTRACT This study focuses on the Qasida al-Mudariyya, a significant work written by Muhammad Şerefüddîn al-Busîrî, which holds an important place in the Islamic world. In the first section of the study, Busîrî's life, scholarly persona, Sufi thought, and works are examined in detail, highlighting his contributions to the intellectual and literary tradition of his time. Subsequently, the general characteristics of the Qasida al-Mudariyya, which is the central topic of the study, are analyzed, and the poem's literary, religious, and Sufi dimensions are evaluated. The Qasida was met with great interest in the Arab world and has been explained and annotated by various scholars, facilitating its understanding. In this context, academic research, annotations, and commentaries on the Qasida in the Turkish world are thoroughly examined. During the Ottoman period, the Qasida al-Mudariyya gained an important place within the madrasa and Sufi traditions and was studied and annotated by various scholars. In this regard, the commentary written by İsmüddîn Üsküdârî on this qasida is specifically analyzed, with attention given to the poet's life, scholarly persona, and works. Üsküdârî's commentary, written in Ottoman Turkish, is an important source regarding the position of the Qasida al-Mudariyya in the Ottoman scientific tradition.
