Examining Mustafa Kutlu's essay type works in the context of values education

In a rapidly changing world, societies have to protect their values in order to survive, because in a world in constant development, the protection of values becomes a strength. One way for a society to live in peace and happiness is to raise individuals with universal values. Education plays an important role in raising individuals who will protect values and internalize universal values. Education helps people to be in solidarity and communicate. Because the function of education is not only to provide information; it is also to prepare individuals for the changing world and to raise awareness for the protection of the values they have Literary works used in education are an important tool for raising awareness of individuals. Individuals who read books can educate and develop themselves. The messages in literary works enable individuals to protect the values they actually have. Turkish language and literature courses are important in conveying national and spiritual values to students through texts. Mustafa Kutlu's essay type books have an important place in transferring values and adopting them to individuals. Because Mustafa Kutlu has frequently dealt with current problems in his essay books, the changing values in our country, and emphasized the importance of national and spiritual values by addressing both the individual and society. In addition, the fact that Mustafa Kutlu's stories have an important place will contribute to the increase in interest in his Works in the essay genre. The aim this study is to examine the contribution of Mustafa Kutlu's essays in the journals. Document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. The research material consists of Mustafa Kutlu's 12 essay books. In collecting the data, the researcher created a values form in which 20 values were addressed by the researcher as a result of the preliminary examination by taking into account the opinions of academicians who experts in the field and 10 roots. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data.The values covered were analyzed under separate headings and the sentences containing the values were quoted and interpreted by specifying the essay book and page numbers in which the values were included. It was determined that the most common value among the values examined was religious values and the value of caring for the environment, and the least processed value was the value of patience. It is concluded that Mustafa Kutlu's essay works are rich in terms of containing values, and it is thought that the works can be used in values education with this aspect.
