Abstract (EN)
With their unique density and architectural qualities, Diyarbakır Diclekent Villas are encountered as an urban fabric on the way to losing its characteristics due to changes that have occurred. We have tried to explain the physical changes in detached housing areas, triggering factors of that change, user-requested alterations, processes of those alterations and effects of them on the urban fabric. Within the study, 217 single plan type Diclekent Villas were addressed; and the changes made on them due to social, economical, cultural and political reasons since its construction date, and the causes of those changes were examined. For analyzes that were conducted in the field survey, basic materials were projects of research interests from the municipal archive, plan and council decisions, on-site examinations and observations, and designers of housing areas; obtained data were examined and a conclusion was reached. The aim of this study is to detect physical changes in building and texture of detached housing areas that were introduced in Diyarbakir city center in 1990s , and to reveal those changes on a housing basis and an urban basis. This study consists of five sections. In the first section, the scope and the purpose were explained; in the second section, resources were summarized and information was provided from the relevant literature review regarding the concept of housing, the concept of morphology change/transformation, re-utilization and urban renewal. The material and method of the study were explained in the third section. In the fourth section, which includes the field survey, visual changes that occurred in housing and interference with the housing were detected and explained with examples. At the same time, morphological changes that occurred on an urban scale were collected in two groups, classified as changes that occurred in second dimension and changes that occurred in third dimension, and explained with examples and analyzes. The fifth section is the conclusion, and this part shows that changes in housing are associated with the changes in zoning legislation, and economical, social, cultural and environmental factors.
