Comparing export of Turkey and the United Kingdom in the framework of absolute advanteges and comperative advanteges

Abstract (EN)

Different results are obtained from the analyses of exports of England and Turkey those depended on absolute advantages and Revealed Comparative Advantages. The study employs United Nation?s data base for consistency and supported by regression models and correlation analyses.Analyses for England exports to Turkey during 1989-2005 in absolute advantages are in the groups like (respectively) Road vehicles (including air-cushion vehicles), Power-generating machinery and equipment, Medicinal and pharmaceutical products, Electrical machinery, apparatus and appliances, not elsewhere specified, and electrical parts thereof (including non-electrical counterparts, not elsewhere specified, of electrical household-type equipment), General industrial machinery and equipment, not elsewhere specified, and machine parts, not elsewhere specified. On the other hand, analyses for England exports to Turkey in absolute advantages are in the groups like (respectively) Animal or vegetable fats and oils, processed; waxes of animal or vegetable origin; inedible mixtures or preparations of animal or vegetable fats or oils, not elsewhere specified, Live animals, Hides, skins and furskins, raw, Gas, natural and manufactured, Essential oils and resinoids and perfume materials; toilet, polishing and cleansing preparations.Analyses for Turkey exports to Turkey in absolute advantages are in the groups like (respectively) Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, Road vehicles (including air-cushion vehicles), Telecommunications and sound-recording and reproducing apparatus and equipment, Textile yarn, fabrics, made-up articles, not elsewhere specified, and related products, Vegetables and fruit. On the other hand, analyses for Turkey exports to England in absolute advantages are in the groups like (respectively) Office machines and automatic data-processing machines, Other transport equipment, Petroleum, petroleum products and related materials, Telecommunications and sound-recording and reproducing apparatus and equipment, Fish (not marine mammals), crustaceans, molluscs and aquatic invertebrates, and preparations thereof.Negative correlation is determined between Revealed Comparative Advantages and Hillman Condition provided.
