Muzaffer İzgü's vocabulary of the children's novel series "Ökkes" and its suitability for vocabulary learning outcomes at the Turkish lesson teaching program

This study was carried out in order to determine the vocabulary level of Muzaffer İzgü's children's novel series Ökkeş, the compatibility of the works with the acquisitions in the Turkish Lesson Curriculum in terms of vocabulary, and to reveal the features that should be found in terms of vocabulary in the works to be written in the field of children's literature. Vocabulary elements of the ten books that make up the children's novel series Ökkeş were classified by coding with the root and stem forms after the inflectional suffixes were deleted. The classified vocabulary elements are shown in the findings section of the study using tables. Numerical data on the vocabulary of the Ökkeş series are expressed and explained through tables and figures. In the comparison of the vocabulary level of the Ökkeş series with other books written in the field of children's literature, Bayram Baş's study with 368 children's books was used. The findings obtained as a result of the comparison showed that the vocabulary of the Ökkeş series is at the level of other books written in the field of children's literature. The Ökkeş series was also evaluated according to the vocabulary acquisitions in the Turkish Lesson Curriculum. It has been determined that the Ökkeş series largely meets the vocabulary acquisitions in the curriculum and the book series is a reading material that can be taught in schools. In the last part of the study, the vocabulary of the Ökkeş series is evaluated and discussed according to other problem situations. In the suggestions section, the features that should be found in children's books are expressed and suggestions are presented to those who will do vocabulary work.
