Searching the effects of conflict resolution skills, assertivenes skills and aggressiveness level on 9 th grade students in high school of ?negotiation (problem solving) and mediation? education programme

Aim of this research is to help 9 th classes gain the skills of solving conflict when they are face to face in their interpersonal relations in a peaceful an friendly way. Also, in the direction of this aim, the effect of ?Negotiation (problem solving) and Mediation? education programme on students conflict resolution skill, an assertivenes skill and aggressiveness level have been researched.In this study, because of the using of pretest and posttest with control group design half experimental design, instead of using, world model working group was used. In order to this research 482 students have been chosen who educate in two different 9 th classes of lower social group areas, where aggressiveness is mostly seen, in İzmir.In order to get data conserning to this study in the direction of scaling the tendency of the students on skills, ?The Tendency of Conflict Resolution Scale? which is developed by Akbalık (2001) also,in order to scale the level of their aggressiveness ?The Aggressiveness Scale? which is developed by Can (2002) and also ?Rathus Assertiveness Inventory? which is developed by Rathus in America especially to scale their assertiveness level.?Negotiation (problem solving) and Mediation? education programme has been done on the experiment group in 17 week period consists of 18 activities for two hours in a week. During this period, nothing has been done to control group. At the and of the activity which was done to experiement group ?The Tendency of Conflict Solution Scale?, ?The Aggressiveness Scale? and ?Rathus Assertiveness Inventory? has been done fort he second time.Statistical analyses of data that are gathered from the research scale, are done by using SPSS 11 for Windows Packet Programme. In this statistical analyses of data T-test and ANCOVA have been used for unrelated groups. Next, in order to test the effect of the experimental function, the benefit points of control groups have been calculatedIn the direction of data gathered from this research ?Negotiation (problem solving) and Mediation? education programme has been prepared and this programme has positive effect on understanding and developind the social adaptation of students.When the programme is evaluated according to gender variety, it?s seen that in conflicts, female students use friendly and peaceful methods more than male students. And it is seen that ?Negotiation (problem solving) and Mediation? education programme is not effective on reducing of students aggressiveness tendencies.Finally, it?s clear that this programme has more positive effects on the students who had this education programme and also it is clear that those who had their education programme show more assertiveness behaviours, especially for female students.
