This research was made in order to investigate the effects of music teachingbased on Active learning techniques on learning of musical knowledge, musicalhearing skills, on the improvement of positive attitude and views regarding the musiccourses in comparison with music teaching based on traditional approach.The research was made on two groups which consisted of the sixth classpupils of primary education. In one of the groups music teaching based on Activelearning techniques was implemented while in the other group music teaching basedon traditional approach was applied.Data from the research was collected through the test before and after theexperiment , the scale and the interviews made after the experiment.The main results of the research are as follows:1. Music teaching based on Active learning techniques are moreeffective than music teaching based on traditional approach in terms of learningmusical knowledge.2. Music teaching based on Active learning techniques are moreeffective than music teaching based on traditional approach in terms of improvementof musical hearing skills.3. It was found that, with regard to the improvement of positive attitudetoward music courses, both music teaching based on Active learning techniques andmusic teaching based on traditional approach had considerable differences. However,when the averages of attitude points were examined, it was discovered that musicteaching based on Active learning techniques was more effective than music teachingbased on traditional approach in the improvement of positive attitude towards musiccourses.4. Music teaching based on Active learning techniques increasesstudents? interest in music courses.
