Perspectives of instructors, teachers, and students on artificial intelligence in music education: The case of Bolu province

This study aims to examine perceptions and evaluations regarding the use of artificial intelligence in music education in the province of Bolu. The study group consists of faculty members working at the Department of Music Education at Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University, undergraduate students studying in the same department, and music teachers working in Bolu. The research was conducted using the phenomenological design, one of the qualitative research approaches. Participants were selected through purposive sampling, a type of non-random sampling method, specifically using the maximum variation sampling technique. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with a total of 30 participants, comprising 10 individuals from each group. The data obtained indicate that faculty members are the most positive group toward artificial intelligence, while music teachers tend to approach it more cautiously, and students struggle to translate their theoretical awareness into practice. The findings reveal that artificial intelligence holds potential to enhance personalization, assessment, and instructional processes in music education; however, effective utilization of this potential requires both pedagogical and technical support.
