Examination of musical hearing reading and writing developments of students according to various variables in music teacher training institutions

As it is known, music education at undergraduate level is given by education faculties' department of music teaching and music and Performing Arts departments of conservatories and Fine Arts faculties. These schools have instrument education, music theory education and voice education programs. Institutions that train artists, teachers or music researchers will absolutely take these trainings into their programs. It is a fact that musical hearing literacy is one of the most basic lessons of music education since it is very intensive in cognitive, affective and psychomotor activities during the education process. For this reason, the development of musical hearing, reading and writing is thought to be the biggest indicator of the student's musical development. The aim of this study is to examine the musical hearing, reading and writing development of students in the institutions that train music teachers according to various variables and to determine the factors affecting this development. In this study, entrance special talent exam and in the process of graduation, the development of the exam applied within this study was named as musical development and the variables that could affect this development were presented with analyses. This study was limited to the senior students from the department of Music Education of Abant İzzet Baysal University- Faculty of Education in 2016/2017 academic year.
