Abstract (EN)
Professional burnout and stress are the most common social-based problems that cause loss of workforce in modern societies. Professional burnout is seen in many fields, including education. This study aims to examine the burnout levels of music teachers in the city of Antalya and their causes. This mixed method study, consisting of a combination of qualitative and quantitative techniques, was conducted in 2019-2020 with music teachers working in the city of Antalya. The study group included 72 randomly selected music teachers in Antalya. The Maslach Burnout Inventory was administered to the participants for the quantitative research. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with 25 teachers who were determined to have suffered from burnout in this first phase to determine its causes. In the interviews, possible causes of burnout were conceptualized under these categories: work environment, professional competence, individual and social, and other causes, and questions were generated using these themes. The study data were analyzed using descriptive methods. The music teachers' burnout was evaluated and analyzed as themes and sub-themes in each category.
