Özet (EN)

SUMMARY DETECTION OF THE RESISTANCE IN MYCOBACTERIUM TUBERCULOSIS miH PCR Rifampicin with its high bactericidal activity is one of the most important drug of choice in the primary treatment of tuberculosis. Its high bactericidal effect against Mycobacterium tuberculosis renders rifampicine the key component in the treatment regimens. Resistance to rifampicin (RIF) cause a serious and significant treat in order to tuberculosis control. Control of rifampicin resistant tuberculosis relies proper treatment of drug resistant cases and rapid diagnosis. Molecular characterization RIF-resistant M. tuberculosis clinical strains of different origins can generate information useful for developing rapid molecular diagnostic methods that are widely applicable. In this study, we investigated 25 RIF resistant clinical isolates collected from South Turkey by using automatic DNA sequencing. Consequently, we sequenced a 250-bp central region of the RNA polymerase p-subunit gene (rpoB) that covers the 81- bp-core region known to be the marker for RIF resistance. Our results are in concordance with literature data. Keywords: Drug resistance, DNA sequencing, Rifampicin, Molecular methods, Mycobacterium tuberculosis. XI
