The power and relationship of the cash flow statement to explain the firm value: Empirical analysis

The subject of this study is to ensure that the cash flows obtained from the cash flow statement are used in firm valuation. This study aims to determine the power of the cash flow statement to explain the firm value and its relationship. For this purpose, financial statements and footnotes of 31 manufacturing industry companies and various information in the BIST 100 index between 2012 and 2021 have been used. Free cash flows from the cash flow statement have been discounted using appropriate discount rates. Thus, the firm values of the companies have been determined. A cross-section regression analysis has been applied to analyze the relationship between the market values of the determined firm values. Findings show that firm value gives meaningful results with various explanatory power.
