Abstract (EN)

Thanks to the developments in information and communication technologies, the share of payments made by using mobile, digital and card systems increases in the total payments, while cash usage decreases. This process, named the "Cashless Society", is supported by banks, payment system organizations, technology companies and governments. The study researches the factors affecting the card usage preferences of commercial customers in the cashless society process. With this unique research in Turkey, it is targeted to determine the factors affecting the cashless society, which factors are affected by commercial customers in the use of banking cards owned by commercial customers. Factors are determined by using the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) method, and the relationship between the cashless society process and other factors, which is among these factors, was tested by applying the linear regression model. In addition, Chi-Square analyzes were conducted to determine the relationship between selected demographic characteristics of commercial customers and card ownership. 8 factors affecting the card usage of commercial customers have been identified. It is observed that the "Cashless Society Process Factor" is affected by other factors. There is a relationship between cardholders and the demographic characteristics of commercial companies such as operating period, shareholding structure, turnover, number of employees and sectors. Institutions working for the development of cashless society and organizations aiming to increase their income from banking cards can use the determined factors in product development, marketing strategies and policies.
