Abstract (EN)
The environmentally friendly MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubrication) method, which is increasingly used in the machinery, manufacturing and defense industries, replaces traditional coolants. Compressed air applied in machining processes performed in the MQL method creates an oil film between the material used and the cutting tool, causing a decrease in friction in the cutting area. At the same time, it has a positive effect on the removal of the heat generated in the cutting zone with chips, less heating of the cutting zone, and on the life of the cutting tool. Thanks to the increased cutting tool life and product quality, as well as the reduced cutting force, cutting fluids increase productivity in machining. In this study, CW511L brass material was turned by dry, MQL, MQL+ÇDKN (Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube), MQL+Nano Graphene methods. In the experiments to be carried out with the nano MQL method, nano-sized powders were added into the cutting fluid. Turning experiments were carried out with uncoated tungsten carbide cutting tools at cutting speeds of 160, 240, 320, 400 m/min, feed rates of 0,16, 0,24, 0,32 and 0,40 mm/rev and a fixed depth of cut of 1,5 mm. A total of 64 experiments were carried out and as a result of the experiments, the effects and differences on the workpiece surface roughness, surface topography, cutting zone temperature, cutting tool wear were examined. As a result of the experiments, 57,75% better values in surface roughness, 16,46% in cutting zone temperature and 59,26% better in cutting tool wear were obtained compared to dry machining of MQL+Nano Graphene method.
