Abstract (EN)
NATO was established against the Soviet threat in the Cold War period. With the disintegration of S. Russia, NATO's mission has shifted from collective defense to collective security. After the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, NATO's terrorist outlook changed completely and the new enemy became terrorism. After the September 11 attacks, NATO's military and political transformation took place under the influence of terrorism. In this context, NATO's point of view towards terrorism and its applications in this area are examined. In addition, the problems NATO faces in the struggle with terrorism are addressed. Literature search was used in the study. The study consists of four parts. In the first chapter; international security, international terrorism and combating international terrorism were handled. In the second chapter; The institutional structure of NATO and the period from the Cold War to the terrorist acts of September 11, 2001 were mentioned. In the third chapter; The postmodern transformation of NATO in the military and political arena has been examined. In the last chapter, the problems of NATO faces in combating terrorism are discussed.
