Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the existence of inverted sentences -that are seen as a problem for some of our intellectuals while the others consider them as the natural structures of Turkish language" in a novel by Nazan Bekiroğlu called "Pomegranate Tree" (Nar Ağacı). Each language has its own syntax. The classicalsentence structure in Turkish is (in the form of) subject+ object+ verb. However, especially in colloquial language this tends to change frequently. Now, is this irregularity or the richness of Turkish language? In this thesis the inverted sentences in Nazan Bekioğlu's " Pomegranate Tree" (Nar Ağacı) novel were examined, classified and evaluated according to their structures and functions. Thus it was tried to explain that how the words or word groups used after verbs affected the manner of telling. Keywords: sentence, inverted sentence, inverted structure, function, syntax.
