Abstract (EN)
There are lots of pieces written in Ottoman Turkish before the Letter Reform. While some of these pieces have been translated to Modern Turkish, there are still other ones waiting for being translated. Those pieces are thought to have great importance in terms of showing us the past and shedding light on the future. There are some chief child songs which are written in the early days of our Republic. One of those songs is the one named "Notalı Yeni Çocuk Şarkıları: İlk Mekteb 1 ilâ 5 Sınıf" that belongs to Necati Bey and published in 1928, also available with the "EHT 1947 A 73" call number in National Library. That book includes 72 child songs whose composer is Necati Bey. Those 72 songs analyzed and interpreted in terms of key, rhythm, form, subject, vocal range, polivocality. In that research along with introducing Necati Bey to our musical history as a child song composer, introducing his compositions to our child songs repertoire is aimed. This research matters in terms of utilization in the education of that book written in Ottoman Turkish, highlighting the importance of musical understanding of its time and contribution to the studies that will be made on child songs books of that time. In that research, historical research method has been used and the data has been gathered through the document review technique. In that research in which the whole population has been reached, the sampling method has not been used. As a result, it has seen that the songs have met the needs of its time regarding music education and it has been confirmed that most of the songs were sufficient for the elementary school music education. Furthermore, it is seen that one of those songs was not a child song, it was an independence march.
