A technical and musical analysis of Necdet Levent's " Book of Pieces for Flute"

This study aims to analyze the works included in Necdet Levent's book Pieces for Flute from a musical perspective. These pieces, which hold an important place in the flute repertoire, are considered a significant resource for both flüte educators and performers through the examination of their structural and technical characteristics. In the research, the formal structures, tonality, harmony, rhythmic patterns, and melodic features of the works are analyzed in detail. Additionally, the performance techniques used in the pieces are identified, and their contributions to flute performance are evaluated. A qualitative research design was adopted as the methodology of the study, and the descriptive analysis method was employed. Detailed musical analyses were conducted based on the score texts, and the technical and musical elements of the works were systematically categorized. Furthermore, the place of the work within the flute repertoire and its contributions to performance practice were supported through a literature review. The findings were interpreted and evaluated within the context of relevant music theory and performance techniques. As a result, it was determined that the works in the Pieces for Flute book possess a rich structure that includes both traditional and modern flute techniques. The techniques and musical elements used in the pieces offer valuable educational material for developing various aspects of flute performance. This study aims to highlight the importance of technically oriented analyses in the flute literature and to serve as a guiding source for future academic research.
