The category of positional suffix in Nehcü'l-Feradìs

An important work of Harezm Turkish is Nehcü'l-FerÀdìs. It was written by an important manuscript Mahmūd bin Ali. It is a very voluminous work reflecting the language characteristics of the period. Author's mastery of the use of language's elements is reflected in the style of the work. When the manuscript is examined, it is observed that positional suffixes are used intensively. Considering the suffix classifications made for the Turkish language, the common opinion is that there are two suffix categories as a derivational affix and inflectional suffix. However, when examined in term of the Turkish language syntagm system, it is counted in ten suffix types of contrariness relations. Positional suffixes are one of them. Based on this understanding, the positional suffixes that we designate as an independent category, the name which is a positional auxiliary element in noun-verb names; purpose, binding, subject, explanation, comparison... it connects to the verb, which is the main element in functions such as. In this study, the basic descriptions of the researchers' positional suffixes are given and, contrary to the general grammar understanding of the suffix, the framework of the contrariness system is generally drawn. A suffix classification is made in which the positional suffixes, which are an independent category, are evaluated by taking into account the main functions and their subfunctions. The examples we received from the study are given in detail. The data obtained as a result of the analysis were included in the results section together with their explanations. Purpose of selecting the manuscript, period has language characteristics and is a very comprehensive study.
