Abstract (EN)

THE ROLE OF VITAMIN D RECEPTOR GENE POLYMORPHISMS IN THE PATHOGENESIS OF NECROTIZING ENTEROCOLITIS Objective: Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is an important reason for morbidity and mortality in preterm infants. Pathogenesis of NEC is still unknown and this is effective for these morbidity and mortality. Recent studies have shown that genetic polymorphisms may be associated with perinatal morbidity, including NEC. The aim of this study is to investigate the potential role of Fok 1 C>T polymorphism of the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene, NEC which is a common, life-threatening neonatal gastrointestinal disease in preterm infants. There were a significant differences between the NEC and control groups for genotype distributions VDR Fok1 C/T gene polymorphisms. There were no significant differences between NEC stage, sex and diagnosis time with VDR gene polymorphisms
