Turkey's Northern Iraq and Northern Syria policy in the context of neo-classical realism (2002-2015)

This thesis seek Turkey's foreign policy between 2002-2015 in the context of neoclassical realism by examining, the factors that determine Turkey's foreign policy behavior has been studied with cases of Northern Iraq and Northern Syria policy. İt investigate effects of outputs of regional and international and domestic factors role on determining Turkish foreign policy behavior. In the first part of the study, neoclassical realist, classical realist and neorealist theories that from the same roots are covered in general. İn this study, Neo-classical realism's, which is a foreign policy theory, approaches to actors of foreign poicy making and its processes has been examined. İn this sense, Turkish foreign policy between 2002 and 2015 was analyzed in general and the role of internal actors in foreign policy was investigated in the second part. In the second and third part of the thesis during the AK Party of Turkey in Northern Iraq and Northern Syria policy has been examined. Turkey's relations with KRG which is turned into from security base policy to relation of alliance and the factors which make it a threat to the structure in North Syria after the Syrian civil war have been analyzed comparatively.
