Turkey-Russia relations in the context of neoclassical realism in the recent period

"Neoclassical Realism" suggested by Gideon Rose and in time constitued its framework, forms the basis of this study' theory. The Turkish-Russian relations, which have always maintained and advocated traditional discourses in bilateral relations, have evaluated and evolved into the top-tier bilateral relations in the 2000s with the steps taken in the period of 1990s. Following the developing relations in the period of 2000s, jet crisis in November 24, 2015 was to the point of break the relations between Turkey-Russia. This study, which refers exactly at this point, discusses the main reason for the rapid development of bilateral relations again with the perspective neoclassical realism. This study claims that, by the influence of the international system in the ongoing bilateral relations problems can end, also claims the importance of internal factors while determining their foreign policies and finally analyses crisis among between Turkish and Russian raletion and aftermath in this context. In this framework, in the first part of the study, "neoclassical realism theory" which forms the basis of this study was discussed. In the second and third part of the study, Turkish and Russian relations were discussed on periodic framework. The crisis and cooperations among this two countries were investigated which took place after the jet crisis on November 24, 2015. In the last part of the study, relations between Turkey and Russian Federation have brought to the breaking point by the jet crisis. Afterwards, both inernational conjuncture and the actions of national actors set forward for new cooperations. At this juncture, the events and after effects were analyzed according to neoclassical realism theory and its claims.
