Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of this thesis, the active secondary metabolites were isolated from the above –ground parts of Nepeta italica subsp. italica by bioactivity guided isolation studies and structureswere determined using 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy. In this context, the main fractions were formed from the extract obtained by chromatographic methods and components showing antioxidant, enzyme inhibition, antimicrobial and DNA protection potential activities were obtained by activity guided fractionisation. As a result of chromatography and isolation processes, as active ingredients; one phenolic acid, caffeic acid, two flavonoids; cirsimaritin, cirsimarin, three triterpenoids; β-sitosterol, daucosterol, ursolic acid, an iridoid glycoside, 8-epideoxyloganic acid and an abietane type diterpenoid; abietatriene 3β-ol have been isolated. Caffeic acid in phosfomolibdenium reducing and lipase inhibition, abietatriene-3β-ol in reducing power, free radical removal and ABTS.+ removal tests, β-sitosterol in AChE, BChE, tyrosinase and superoxide anion removal tests, cirsimaritin metal chelation, α-amylase inhibition tests, 8-epideoxyloganic acid in α-glycolidase inhibition test, ursolic acid in DNA protection activity tests were determined to be the most active components. The bioactivities of abietatriene-3β-ol and 8-epideoxyloganic acid compounds were determined for the first time in this thesis study.
