Effectsiveness of video modeli̇ng on teaching bids for joint attention by showong an object to children with autism

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of video modeling to teach children with autism to initiate bids for joint attention by showing an object. Furthermore, social comparison data were collected to examine the social validity of the study. Three children with autism whose age ranged from 4- 4,5 participated in the study. A multiple probe design across participants was utilized in the study. Findings of the study showed that video modeling was effective on teaching bids for joint attention by showing an object to all participants. Moreover, results indicated that target skill was maintained for 7, 14, and 28 days after the intervention and generalized with different people and situations. Social comparison data of the study showed that all the participants were able to perform the target skill similar to their peers after the intervention.
