A research on the applications of internet of things technologies in chain markets in the fast consumption sector

The main purpose of this study is to examine the use of internet of things technology in the chain markets in the fast moving consumer goods sector. Qualitative method was used in the research and phenomenolog (phenomenolog) pattern was followed. For these purposes, the universe of the research consists of chain markets operating in Çanakkale. Since the sample of the research was handled with the qualitative method, it was formed as a typical case sampling from purposeful sampling types and 16 interviews were made in the research, 3 interviews were deemed invalid an the study was handled with interviews consisting of 13 chain market managers in total. The data collected by the interview method were obtained with a semi-structured interview form. The semi-structured interview form consists of 8 open-ended questions. Semi-structured interview forms were applied to store managers and regional managers through face-to-face interviews. The study was carried out by applying the descriptive analysis method to the data cellected throughout the research. As a result of the analysis of the data; chain market managers have very low internet of things concept knowledge and competence on the subject. With this result, it has been determined that the internet of things technologies used in the chain markets in the domestic fast-moving consumption sector are used at a low level when compared to the examples abroad. It has been observed that there are no in-house studies to increase the knowledge and usage level of the managers about the internet of objects technologies used in the chain markets, and it has been determined that the enterprises should provide training support to their employees in this regard. They need to know that they can create an advantage from the intense competition in the sector only with in-house training.
