Abstract (EN)

Ney's importance for the Turkish Islamic culture takes its origin from the Mevlana's sayings in the first eighteen verse of Mesnevi. The beginning of a magnificent masterpiece such as Mesnevi with ney and had attracted a great attention towards ney, and then ney has become the symbol of Islamic Sufism. The music always had an influence in the rituals and in other religious ceremonies (Sufi Ceremony of Divine Remembrance) -in dervish lodge- which has a part in Turkish people's religious activities. Ney's took humanity under its influence with unique smoky voice and the companionship of mystical atmosphere of the rituals. Ney, empty inside with seven holes, transforms to voice with the neyzen's breath coming from fire of love. The mysterious relationship of man with Allah who is the eternal love of humankind is like the sign of a pure love reflecting from the spiritual world. Sometimes it confronts us as whimpering tunes of this love and sometimes as a symbol of passionate love. In both cases, Ney as a symbol of spiritual purification represents the perfect human being who falls in love with the fire of love according to Sufism. Ney symbolizing the perfect human being in the humane life cries out since the departure from its home and asks to get back to "itsessense", totheowner of the lips, to the Creator. Human entrusted with his life by the Creator symbolized with Ney in Mevlana's Mesnevi and in Islamic Sufism. Ney had been fed on from the neyzen's soul and became the mirror; when the people looked at this mirror they have seen their reflections. Under the scope of this study which aims to meet Ney's love of fire with the earth; Ney's historical background, Ney's characteristics in terms of shape and technic and its place and importance in Sufi music have been explained. This topic which has never been discussed at the national level in the area of ceramic will be presented to the audience by using different functionality, baking and shaping techniques on different ceramic surfacesby exhibiting theoretical and visual documents in a mystique atmosphere in companionship with Ney's music.
