Image of home in the stories of Nezihe Meriç

Beside of the physical function of the home that provides the shelter, there are also various psychological functions that change according to the mood of a person. Such functions can exist with the meanings that people attach to matter and may change by tim e. Home is the only place given to women and identified with women in patriarchal societies. In this conditions, home is the place where the world of women begins. Nezihe Meriç, one of the important names of 1950 Kuşağı short story writers has worked in novels, theater and children's literature, especially short stories. In this study, the image of the house was taken from all the stories of Nezihe Meriç. The home has ceased to be a simple space in Nezihe Meriç's stories, but has transformed into a functional structure for the fiction of the stories and the analysis of the story heroes. The aim of the study is to determine the imaginary meanings that it attributes to the home-woman relationship in the context of the space character, based on stories. At the end of the study, it was determined that Nezihe Meriç does not only use the home as a fund place, it is one of the basic elements in the story setting of the home and a deep relationship between the home and the woman.
