Abstract (EN)

This research was carried out to determine their typology and to examine their biosecurity status in sheep farms operating in Niğde province. The research data were obtained by conducting a survey with the farm owners or supervisors in 75 farms engaged in small ruminant breeding in Niğde province and its surroundings in 2019. In this research, the production types, capacities, typologies of sheep breeding farms were determined, and it was aimed to reveal their relationship with their biosecurity status and biosecurity practices. The total number of sheep and information on the enterprises dealing with sheep breeding were collected through the Tarım ve Orman Bakanlığı provincial/district directorates in Niğde province and its surroundings in the examined enterprises, and the number of enterprises, their scales, breeding system (intensive, extensive) and animal wealth were evaluated on the basis of centers and districts. In the study, the general situation of sheep breeding production system and capacities, structural conditions, biosecurity practices and health protection enterprises in Niğde province were emphasized. In addition, the problems faced by the enterprises were determined and solutions and suggestions were tried to be developed. At the end of this study it has been observed that, biosecurity measures are not taken, cleaning and hygiene rules are not followed in the farms in Nigde province, as a result of these, the operators complain about animal health. It is thought that the most effective solution in eliminating these complaints and deficiencies can be achieved through correct planning, training, awareness raising and incentives activities.
