Abstract (EN)
Cydia pomonella (L.) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), Codling moth, is one of the important pests of apple both in our country and in the world. Intensive chemical applications are used to control the pest, and subsequently problems such as resistance in the pest and residue in the agricultural product. However, the number of pesticide applications can be reduced by complying with the forecasting and warning systems. In this study, the population fluctuation of C. pomonella in 6 regions with different ecologies of Niğde province was monitored in 2022-2023. At the same time, data on accumulation temperature totals for C. pomonella were obtained from the forecasting and warning stations located in these regions and their compatibility with C. pomonella harmful population fluctuations was examined. Survey studies were also conducted to determine producers' adaptation to modern agricultural practices. As a result of the study, it was determined that the pest started flying at the end of April and remained active in nature for approximately 5-5.5 months until the end of September. Although it varies depending on the region, it has been determined that C. pomonella produces 2-3 offspring per year. It was determined that the population fluctuation of C. pomonella was consistent with the accumulation temperature totals obtained from the forecasting and warning system stations, except for two regions. As an exception, no harmony was observed for the first generation in the Çukurkuyu and Badak villages of the Bor district. In general, the first peak of the population occurred at approximately 250 degree days, the second peak occurred at 800 degree days, and in the regions where the 3rd peak was observed, this point occurred at 1250 degree days. According to the results of the survey, it was determined that the number of sprayings for C. pomonella was 5 or more in the majority of orchards and that producers were generally knowledgeable about the forecasting and warning system and found the system successful. According to the results obtained, it was concluded that compliance with the forecasting and warning systems is appropriate in the control against C. pomonella and is decisive in deciding on the control.
