Abstract (EN)
The number of universities is constantly increasing and some of these universities have large campuses in Turkey. These campuses are used during the night as well as during the day. Lighting systems design has an important issue in terms of night use of these areas (safety, aesthetics, etc.). But the lighting of each area has also negative effects on cost and ecology. Therefore, sustainability of the areas can be ensured with suitable lighting designs. Ecological sustainability is made possible by the interaction of plants, biotic factors and soil in areas. Light pollution resulting from lighting may cause negative effects (reflection, temperature etc.) on biotic and abiotic environments. Negative effects should be reduce with suitable lighting design and ecological sustainability should be ensured. Economic sustainability is made possible by low costs and creating suitable landscape designs.In this study; The current lighting design of the Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University campus was examined and lighting design suggestions have been developed in the context of sustainable campus. The study consists of five stages. In the first stage; land uses of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University campus (buildings, recreational areas, green areas, pedestrian roads, vehicle roads etc.) were determined. In the second stage; the study area was analyzed, photographs were taken on the study area, current lighting systems were determined on the area and the current lighting values were measured by using the lux meter. In the third stage; the data obtained from the study area were transferred to computer, optimum lighting values were calculated by using ReluxSuite 2016 software, the results obtained from the field and computer were compared, design errors were determined in terms of lighting, differences between the values were determined statistically, lighting system suggestions were done for campus. In the fourth stage; survey was conducted on students, academic and administrative personnel and employees. Previous studies in landscape architecture occupation doesn't contain any quantity data about lighting systems. Also the standards that are determined by the International Lighting Commission (CIE) was not considered. In this study; the quantitative data of lighting systems and the standards were considered. Therefore; design suggestions were made according to the criteria's. As a result of the study, it was determined that campus lighting design not suitable for standards, green areas have more lighting problems, LED lamps have more advantageous than other lamps between all suggestions for campus lighting designs. Solar paneled lighting poles have more advantageous in areas that need security. Using of andesite, stone and wood for pavement should be increased but asphalt and rubber should be reduced. Solar panels are important in terms of economic and ecological advantages, but all the panels should not be built at the same time and the number of panels should increase over time (for economic costs). The lighting software used for this study is suitable for outdoor lighting calculations.
